RECIPES

Homemade Strawberry Crunch Pop-Tarts

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)

  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves

  • 1 cup crushed crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies)

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 tablespoons milk

  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface and cut each crust into rectangles, approximately 3x4 inches in size.

  3. Place half of the rectangles onto the prepared baking sheet. These will be the bottoms of your Pop-Tarts.

  4. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of strawberry jam onto each rectangle on the baking sheet, spreading it slightly but leaving a small border around the edges.

  5. Place the remaining rectangles of pie crust on top of the jam-covered ones, gently pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges and ensure they are sealed tightly.

  6. Use a knife to make a few small slits in the top of each Pop-Tart to allow steam to escape during baking.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

  8. While the Pop-Tarts are baking, prepare the crunchy topping. In a small bowl, mix together the crushed crispy rice cereal and powdered sugar.

  9. Once the Pop-Tarts are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.

  10. In another small bowl, mix 1-2 tablespoons of milk with the powdered sugar to create a glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the warm Pop-Tarts.

  11. Immediately sprinkle the crunchy topping over the glazed Pop-Tarts, pressing lightly to adhere.

  12. Optionally, add some colorful sprinkles on top for extra fun and decoration.

  13. Allow the Pop-Tarts to cool completely before serving. Enjoy your homemade Strawberry Crunch Pop-Tarts as a delicious snack or dessert!
